Register for The Woman's Club of Chevy Chase MD  7931 Connecticut Ave. community art show and sale March 30-April 1, 2012  You must register by Monday, March 12.   It's a fun show and there are prizes.   Telephone 301-652-8480 for more details.

Artists can also apply to Sibley Hospital for an art exhibit - they can't take our whole membership but individuals can apply.  No dates have been provided; contact Marti Bailey at 202-364-7602

MEMBER ACTIVITIES 

     What's Happening .. and happened??

Lois Levitan and Florence Gang will be exhibiting their art at  The National Institute of Health  from May 11 thru July 6th -  East Gallery 12.    Florence is showing 12 canvases and Lois will show several of her sculptures.

From Lois Levitan...Just found out that my large sculpture, titled "Unbridled Optimism" in on the internet! If you google....dryvit sculpture and select images the  photo of the sculpture is on the first row.  I clicked on it and was happy to see such a nice write-up about it, even mentioning that it is currently on display at Montgomery College in Rockville.

Marty Slater was awarded "honorable mention" in the Annual Open Juried Art Exhibition at the Montpelier Arts Center which is open from December 4-28. [9652 Muirkirk Rd. Laurel MD 20708/ 301-377-7800 or 410-792-0664] He will have a drawing in the 15th Annual National Juried Show at Gallery West which will be open Feb 8-March 4. Maurice Margulies exhibited at KENTLANDS MANSION 320 Kent Square Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20878 DECEMBER 9, 2011 to JANUARY 16, 2012

Millie Shott chose the following prizewinners in the Friendship Heights Gallery show: First Prize - Mary Ellen Gordon - "Riot at Centennial Lake" Second Prize - William Peirce -   Large Mixed Woods Vessel Third Prize - Lieta Gerson    "Syncopated Rhythm" Merit Award - Lila Oliver Asher  'Basin Street Blues" Merit Award - Meryl Silver   "Winter Sunrise" Prizes were awarded on December 18 at the opening.

From Irma Spencer... The Rockville Park, home of the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre and the Glenview Mansion, has 6 sculptures on its grounds. Irma's painted yellow round piece, "Happy Daze" is on the grass facing the entrance road. To go there, take Wootton Parkway across RV Pike, turn right at light on Baltimore Ave, and left on Edmonston to the entrance.

Lois Levitan won first place in the Sculpture Category for her sculpture titled: "In Perpetuity" at the Rockville Art League 2011 Members Show held at Glenviiew Mansion in Rockville  until Jan.3, 2012. It measures 31"h x 10"w x 9" and has a dry pigment & wax finish.
